We secured a contract for kitchen extract cleaning, fire damper maintenance and fan maintenance at Westfield.
System Hygienics has been successful in securing a three-year contract for kitchen extract cleaning, fire damper maintenance and fan maintenance at Westfield Stratford City shopping centre.
The £1.45bn Westfield Stratford City shopping centre was opened by Nicole Scherzinger in September 2011 next to the Olympic Games site and is home to 300 stores, 70 bars and restaurants, three hotels and the UK's largest casino.
In October 2012 we started a three year contract at Westfield Stratford City and will be carrying out kitchen extract cleaning, fire damper maintenance and fan maintenance. Fan maintenance includes the smoke extract fans, kitchen extract fans, car park fans and controls and the smoke evacuation systems.
As well as cleaning the kitchen extracts, engineers also located and tested all the fire and smoke dampers in the ventilation system to ensure they are within the fire containments and that they can be fully accessed to be cleaned, tested and reset. This is to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the BS9999:2008 Annex W.1 which covers routine inspection and maintenance of ventilation ductwork and states that, depending on the type and style of dampers, they should be checked at a maximum interval of 12 months for spring operated fire dampers and two years for other types.
David Collins from Westfield Stratford City shopping centre said: “It was clear that System Hygienics could meet the requirements and carry out the work in an efficient and effective way with minimal disruption to the running of the shopping centre and they have not left us disappointed.”
Alongside working with Westfield Stratford City, we have also been successful in securing contracts for the past two years for fire damper maintenance and the associated remedial and repair work at Brent Cross, Britain’s oldest shopping centre owned by the Hammerson Group.
